Affordable Makeup Haul!

Hey all!

During my hunt to find affordable and good quality makeup, I have looked into, some of the drugstore makeup brands and makeup brands local to Kuwait. I ended up purchasing, a few items I have not used before. I’m also aware that, some of these items, are not available everywhere. The brands I purchased were: Isa Dora, Flormar and Inglot. I have used Inglot before but the other two are new to me. Also, I’m not going to review these products in this post because I want to use them, for another week, before I pass a verdict on their quality and use.

Isa Dora is a Swedish beauty brand and it seems to be popular for its affordability. Its available at some Boots stores, here in Kuwait. They claim that their products are safe for use by people with sensitive skin! So yeyy for that! You can check their website here.

Isa Dora

I picked up the Isa Dora Pro Tect Face primer, Lift & Cover Firming Anti Wrinkle Foundation and their Face Sculpt in Nude. The rest of the stuff, a mascara, lip gloss and nail polish were free gifts! So I get to try out most of their products! Yeyy! DSC_0474As you can tell its got a Bronzer, Blusher And Highlight. I picked it up immediately because currently, I have a Too Faced- Natural Face, Natural Radiance Face Palette and I absolutely love it!  So I wanted to see if this would come anywhere close to that. I’m not trying to compare the two because the too faced palette has a cream blush, luminizer and concealer as well. I just want to see if I can create the same effect with this one. DSC_0475The face primer comes in a tinted shade as well and on retrospect it seems, that it would have made more sense, if I’d picked that up instead, but I really wanted to try their foundation as well.

Moving on…Flormar Cosmetics, started up in Italy but have been based In Turkey for the past 40 yeas or so. They used to make nail polishes, but later ventured into all makeup. You can read about them here.

I picked up their Perfect Coverage Foundation, Full Coverage Concealer, Illuminating Primer and High Performance Volume Mascara. I had also wanted to pick up their blush.. and bronzer.. but I just couldn’t choose between all the gorgeous colors!! They were beautiful and I wanted to buy almost all of them! As for the bronzer…I cant even… it was the size of a CD! Like really, it was HUGE! In the end, I settled for the above and made a mental note, to return when I was satisfied the products were worth the spend.

AND if you have not noticed in the picture above, that IS a Rotating Mascara! Yes, I KNOW !! Anyone remember the Lancome Oscillation Mascara and the Estee Lauder Turbo Lash Mascara?? Well my friends, Flormars got you covered:

DSC_0481I dunno, if I’m supposed to mention it here, but psssst…its amazingggg !!!! Sorry guys, but I couldn’t hold off, until the review blog because I’m in love with this thing!!! If only we knew…

Next up is Inglot..Read about them here. Among the three, Inglot seems to be the most popular. They are all over the world and they also have the “freedom system” which I adore. You start with a one time purchase of their palette, and then you can get refills, for lesser price later super cool…*thumbs up*

DSC_0483As you can tell, that is the carry bag and those two are just lip colors. I did not buy a palette simply because I wanted to try them out first! I have used Inglots liquid blush and its so delicious, nevertheless, one must test make up products before investing full on.

DSC_0486All the above makeup brands, are quiet affordable and range along the lines of any other drugstore brands. If anyone out there, doesn’t want to invest, in very expensive makeup, then you should definitely give these a try. I know, its a little scary, to try new brands, that you’ve never heard of, but you can always read about them online. The world is your google my friend! 🙂

Disclaimer: All the above brands, were purchased, by me personally and I do not represent any of the above mentioned brands. This is not a sponsored post.

Kuwait Books!

Hello there everybody!

Has anyone seen my baton? The one that reads – Kuwait has no good bookstores AND that I dislike the place because I never find the books I’m looking for and I am tired of ordering them online?? Well, I think I lost it, somewhere in the book laden shelves of Kuwait Books, last night!

If you’re like me and books are your oxygen, I suggest you get up off your chairs, stop reading this blog and find your way to them. It doesn’t look like much, when you reach the spot the GPS takes you to, you will be faced with a dilemma:

The entryway to the bookstore

We almost didn’t enter the premises. Firstly, because it was very dark. There are no signs on the road, that lead you in this direction and you might get suspicious, of the GPS lady for a bit, at this point. Secondly, I was certain that Zombies were waiting for us in there! But you guys be brave and walk in because once you do, this is what you will get to:       DSC_0306 The reading angels will welcome you and you will get lost in here…

DSC_0297 Trust me guys, these people have it all. They had most of what I had been looking for, for a long time! I was so impressed with their collection and they even had these:

john Grisham

I had been looking for these for ages and I found them here!! I have the novel sized ones, but these are the real deal for me. You see, I have a whole library situation going on in the house and I have as many books as I have clothes. I am not ashamed to admit that I have a LOT of books. Technology is great and everything but I find solace in reading. I was especially intrigued when I saw this shelf:

The guitar

That guitar right there, is the long lost brother of my guitar! I wanted to get my guitar and place it right next to that guy sitting on top of the shelf. But then I got carried away and found this:

DSC_0310 And this:

DSC_0299The bookstore has its own charm you guys. There’s so much to explore, these pictures can never do justice to the collection they have there. As if it weren’t enough, that they had some of the very rare books I have seen, they’ve made the place very cozy and inviting for those who wish to sit and read. PLUS, if you return the books you purchased from them, they give you store credit! Wooohoo!!

DSC_0315It was only two days ago, that my ignorance about the bookstore, came to a sudden end, when a friend told me they had reopened in a new place. We were in the area and my husband suggested we check it out. I was more than happy and it was a good decision! You wont be returning empty handed from here, I guarantee you.

We’ve been going around Kuwait, looking for children’s books and let me tell you, it has been a struggle. You do get books in Kuwait, don’t get me wrong, but they are either WAYY overpriced or are in Arabic. We found a good collection of books for children here [at Q8 Books] and I let my son pick what he wanted. They have a good variety and they even had some books by local authors! I was happy to see those because I had not seen, some of them, elsewhere.

Books for children

DSC_0301Our trip to the bookstore wasn’t planned and we drove there on instinct. Nevertheless, it was a satisfying experience and we will definitely be returning, very soon!  Honestly, I almost didn’t want to write this post because I wanted to keep the bookstore a secret 😛

So any John Grisham fans reading this, please don’t go pick those books. I ran out of cash last night, but I intend to go back and get them!

Kuwait Makeup Haul !!!!!

Hello there everyone!!

If you remember my post about Organizing makeup with IKEA, you would recall that I ended up clearing out, a LOT of my makeup. Mostly, because it was either too old or stuff I never really used.

So any way, that led to me buying a whole lot of new stuff! And I am sooo excited to share everything with you because I’ve been purchasing makeup, over the past couple of weeks. That’s because I didn’t want to spend too much on expensive products and also because I really wanted to limit myself into a budget, so I could research the market thoroughly. I did however, replenish the products that I have used previously and wish to continue using.

I have used makeup, long enough to know, that you shouldn’t use cheap products on your face, unless you’re okay with skin problems [some of us learnt that the hard way]. I’m pretty sure none of us are fans of that! So I researched a LOT before I could get myself to buying the following products. Since Kuwait makeup market is considerably newer for me, Some of the products are new to me too. I do wish to review them, sometime in the near future. The others I have been using for the past few weeks and reviews are all on their way.

BUT for now, I just wanted to give you some eye candy, so you may sleep better tonight. 😀

Keep checking back for the reviews on these and to learn where I bought some of this stuff.

Is it just me, or does it really look delicious enough to eat?

Shopping at Daiso!

Hey all!

You know, how sometimes, you dream of cute little cottages, surrounded by happy flowers and trees laden with fruits? Well, that is Daiso for me!

I’m guessing everyone out there knows what Daiso is, but for those who don’t, its a Japanese brand. They have stores all over the place and fortunately, they have a couple of stores, here in Kuwait as well! Yeyyy!! 😀

So, every time I go to Daiso [which should be more frequent than it actually is] I end up buying a lot of stuff.

Firstly, because it is so darn cute!!! I mean just look at this hot water bottle!! You’d just wanna cuddle with it and forget all about your pain…

Cutest Hot water bottle EVER!!

Second, its not very expensive, so I pick up things I normally wouldn’t in other stores:

Pillow for back support

PLUS, they have all this cool stuff !! I mean, just check this out:

Plastic bag sealer

The Genius of this stuff!! Who came up with this??? Its battery operated and tiny enough to fit in your little pocket! I am especially excited about this because I was getting really tired of having to put opened cookie bags and chips in jars and such. They take up way too much counter space and if you’re living in Kuwait, you’d know how difficult that is to come by. For those who aren’t aware, the rent in Kuwait is WAY TOO MUCH.. you end up paying more than half of your earnings in rent, for houses the size of peanuts! True story.. :/

On a side note, did you guys know that Kuwait had been voted the worst place for expatriates to live in?? According to a survey, a couple months ago.. I don’t exactly remember where I read it though.. hmm..

Anyway, lets go back to the happy place ! Daiso! So here is some other stuff I bought:

Mini Travel sewing kit

because we ALL have neck aches

A very Japanese Mortar and Pestle

Paper carnation making kit

WHAT???…Well, because we all NEED to make paper carnations!!!

Tiny containers

I needed these, to put homemade lip balms in. Which I gave as gifts for Eid a few days ago. You can see how i added them with the rest of the gifts HERE!

Fluffy Fabric!

I plan to make a fluffy cover for my new hot water bottle, hence this fabric scrap, with the cutest sheep face on it!

I also bought some glass jars to put home made body butters in, but I didn’t take any pics of those. Although, after looking at all this, you can totally believe, that they were super cute!

I hope you enjoyed eyeing all this cuteness.. Go get yourself some Daiso therapy you guys.. 🙂

Totally worth it!

The Caribou Coffee experience.

Hey everyone!

If you’re looking for a place to hang out this week or weekend, go say HI to Kris, at Caribou Coffee, on the coastal road, in Mahboula! She is is this lovely lady at the counter, who took my order last night and made the outing a lot better, by her cheerful banter and gracefulness!

I had, earlier in the evening, had a disappointing experience with a cashier lady at Bairaq Mall and had lost hope in “niceness” in -‘people behind the counter’. So its needless to say that my caribou coffee experience was made better by Kris.

My husband had been insisting on this visit for a while and I must say, it was totally worth it! We had a good time and my son enjoyed the cake. Here are some pics to get you planning your next trip there:

The Fudgy Wudgy

This is what we ordered, though my husband had initially asked for their Honey Latte, which was on promotion a couple months ago, but it seems they don’t have that, on the menu, anymore. Its a shame because it was pretty good…

MOcha, Fudgy Wudgy snowdrifter

We also picked up some magazines there:

But what caught my eye the most was the awesome Reindeer image on the chairs..

That’s it for the this post you guys.

Don’t forget to meet Kris if you got there and Kris if you’re reading this- It was a pleasure meeting you! Thanks a ton love!

See ya at Carabou Cafe guys!

Easy Granola Recipe

Hey all!

I’ve been meaning to post recipes for a while now, but there are so many awesome cooks out there, that i feel extremely under experienced.

Certain recipes are however, built solely over time and experience. That is why, this Granola recipe deserves a mention here. Its super easy and simple. The best part though, is that it can easily be altered, according to ones liking! You can add whatever nuts you prefer. If you don’t want to add the brown sugar, just increase the amount of honey..or maybe not!

Its completely up to you! Trust me and give it a go. It will not disappoint you! Lemme know how it turns out!

Watch me mix up a batch here :

Eid Outfit Ideas

Hey everyone!

Special occasions give us Moms an opportunity to dress up! That’s why they are fun  and relaxing at the same time.

I came up with these two outfit ideas for Eid. They can easily be dressed up or down according to your preference. The best part though is that you can now watch me showing them off here 😀 Enjoy!

I am on YOUTUBE!!!

Hey all!

I have good news!!! I am on Youtube!! Yeyyy!!

Its been in the planning stages for months, but the actual implementation never happened. Recently though, I decided to take that step forward and build on that dream. Super glad I did 😀

I’m having a lot of fun recording videos! Hope you all stop by and enjoy them too!

See you there!

Boots Haul!

Hey there people!

As you may have figured already, this post is about my shopping experience at boots. I have been shopping at boots regularly, ever since I settled here and I am satisfied with the range of products that they offer. I almost always find what I am looking for, for the exception of good information about the products, since the staff is not always aware of what they are selling.

Last week I visited boots and picked up a bunch of stuff, including make up! Can’t wait to show you all what I bought..

DSC_0467Boots Botanics Fast Absorbing Hand Cream is one of my favorites hands down. Its very moisturizing and not at all greasy, like some of the other hand creams I have used. I also bought Avene Thermal Spring Water, which I am a fan of. It was my first time using it and it seems to be a multi purpose spray. It has multiple uses some of which include: Makeup removal, Diaper Rash, Facial Redness, Itching, Damaged skin, Sunburn, etc. I cannot say anything in terms of the effectiveness of the product as of now, but it seems like a good product. Also I got one free on the purchase of the other one, so it was a steal.

Most of the stuff was buy one get one free and I mostly find that offer on some or the other product, every time I go there. DSC_0470Moving on to Boots Shea Butter Lipcare..Lemme just say I have been living under a rock all this while! I didn’t know this thing existed or I was simply blind. Whatever the case may have been, I have now discovered one of the best Lip care products on the market. The Boots Simply Sensitive Hydrating Eye Cream is another product, true to its name. My – living under the rock days – are over! yey!

I also picked up some hair ties and mentos, because one can never have enough of those 😀

I don’t know about any of you out there, but I am always misplacing hair ties. Its always good to have some extra ones handy.
