Chat over Coffee :)

Hello everybody!

Lets chat!

I have been super occupied with a TON of things and have missed this, terribly!!! So, today, I thought, I’d sit down and have a cup of un-rushed coffee and chat with you!!

I decided to use my crappy laptop camera for this image, simply because its a slow day for me today….. The coffee came out , looking like tea! Which means, I love all you guys who love tea ๐Ÿ˜‰

SO! I have been working on a couple of projects recently and have been loving, every bit, of this busy schedule, I’ve had for the past month or so! Among the many things, I’m looking forward to, is the KTAA (Kuwait Textile Arts Association) Fall Bazaar!

That’s because I’m participating as a vendor this year!!! YEEYYYY!!! I am super exited about being a part of it this year because I really wanted to be a vendor last year but had to step back, due to travelling and ill health ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

BUT YEYYYYYY!!!! *clap*jump*clapclap*ย I had completely forgotten about their Fall Bazaar and only very recently, decided I’d signup for the vendorship ๐Ÿ˜›

So I have been trying to make stuff – knit, crochet, sew, quilt- so I have something to show for the Bazaar. I am happy with how things turned out, especially because I was struggling to complete some of the knitting projects, for a while and I got “RE-introduced”, to crocheting! Which by the way, is a topic for another day. Just know, that I learnt crocheting, very early on, as a kid and had a complete memory loss about it in my adult years!! Its weird really, but it happens me!

Well, when I realized, that I was much quicker crocheting, I ripped up a couple knit projects and re did them, in crochet. I was very proud of myself, its amazing how much the brain can remember. Slowly but surely, I’m working on newer crochet techniques and getting better. *thumbs up*

I have been more active on Instagram lately, just for the ease of access really. I used to hate using Instagram, but I have turned a new leaf. Facebook on the other hand, has been ignored a good couple years. I have no clue what my account looks like and have no interest whatsoever! Although, I do have a feeling I might have to fall back in love with it…. missing out on all the funny videos ๐Ÿ˜›

I have some really exciting news for you guys! I have been working on this, for almost two years and I think I will take a leap of faith and jump right into this one! Its definitely a new one for me, no bake shop this time around, I have other plans for that baby. I have decided, to take a plunge into the well of creativity and I’m really looking forward to when I can finally share it on here!

Just know, there’s some stuff getting ready, lots of shipping ….oh and did I mention prettiness???

Enough said!!!!

Loved this chat!! What have you been up to???

Easy Knit Baby Blanket!

Hey all!!

I know I have been absent, from this lovely blogging community..A LOT recently.. but I promise..lots of good is happening ๐Ÿ™‚

I wanted to catch up on some of the stuff, I really want to log on here and this is one of them!

I didn’t think, of watching, a you tube video for this project. I just picked up my yarn and knitting needles and got down to work!

I am pretty happy with the outcome and so is my son, who picked the colors and watched me work on this blanket. All I did was knit different colored yarns, from top to bottom..using the knit stitch! Its the most basic and the easiest of all stitches, but look how prettyyyyy

The best part about this project?? There are no measurements!!! Just eyeball the size you want and go at it!! I just made the blanket, to comfortably cover my son, on all four corners. Made it a bit bigger deliberately, so it can be used for a long time ….. I added the pom poms later, to give the blanket a fun vibe! My dearest boy loves them and so I love them too!! I had tons of leftover yarn, from some other projects I had been working on, so they came in very handy while making the pom poms ๐Ÿ™‚ Nothing was wasted! That makes me happy. ๐Ÿ˜€

I love it, when I can use all of the materials, I’m using in a project and waste nothing. It’s very satisfying to know, that I’m not wasting precious material. Plus, it can make someone really happy :)… just use all the little stuff from here and there and create something new!!

Have any of you been working on any itty bitty projects like this??

Lemme know!

DIY- Easiest Baby Blankets EVER!!!

Hey all!

I usually don’t like to write DIY posts and this one definitely doesn’t count as a tutorial BUT I had to mention it, because its just so darn easy!!!

All you need is- A Baby, some sewing skills (just ย the regular kind), two pieces of fabric (exactly the same size as each other) and you’re done! These can be used, as baby swaddle blankets or even receiving blankets ๐Ÿ™‚

When I have absolutely no time and I still want to be able to gift someone, something meaningful, this is what I go for! Its easy, simple and so personal! Of course, the person you’re gifting this to, needs to have a baby ๐Ÿ˜›

Now, I realize that what you see above is not two pieces of fabric, but a couple of pieces stitched together. That’s simply because I didn’t have large enough fabrics toย reach a decent size, so I joined pieces of fabrics, and then completed the blankets.

Just put the fabrics, right side facing together and sew along the edges. Leave a little opening on side so you can turn it inside out to bring the good side of the fabric out.

Like the color blocking effect!
Confusing patterns will put the baby to sleep immediately ๐Ÿ˜›

I wanted to make it look a little neat, so I finished the edges with a straight stitch, to make the blanket lie flat and even.

That’s it!!! Its so simple and I think, the different fabrics make it look even better! I have decided to keep some ready in my stash, just in case I need more ย for immediate gifting ๐Ÿ™‚ The best thing about this blanket, is that you need no measurements! Just eyeball the fabric and size it according to whoever you’re gifting it to *thumbs up*

This can be used as a summer blanket as well, for babies, toddlers or adults!! Isn’t it awesome??!!

Have fun making some you guys, the satisfaction of making something, that can be used regularly is immense!!

Crazy Quilt Mania Begins!! ;)

Hey All!!

Its OCTOBER!! Yeyyy!! I have always loved this month!! Not just because its my birthday month (*silent clapping*), BUT also because its just soooo beautiful this time of the year! Its like, everything starts falling into place. The air changes and so does the feel …. you get the picture ๐Ÿ™‚

For me, this is also a sign, that I need to get into my busy bee mode and finish all the projects, I’d hoped to complete this year! Not just sewing, but anything and everything, that I have been delaying- for no good reason ๐Ÿ˜›

Crazy quilting is something I absolutely adore!!!!! I’m a self taught quilter and crazy quilting was the way I started my quilting adventure. Infact, I didn’t even know I was “Crazy Quilting”, until much later.

This here, is one of the very first pieces I made.. Its nothing extravagant, but it sure took a lot of work ๐Ÿ™‚

DSC_0772ย It soothes me ๐Ÿ™‚ Reminds me of a -very VERY long time ago- day, when I was playing with my toys and my grandmother sat nearby, sewing away… … The patterns remind me of my sweet mommy, who would come check my size, for a pretty frock she’d be making for me, while I sat oblivious to the joys of sewing.

When I tell my mom, that I made a quilt or I sewed a dress, she laughs it off, simply because its impossible, for her to believe, I can do that. “You don’t know how to sew!!”- is what she says. Thanks to whats app, she has seen, most of my creations and is still amazed, that I’m the one behind, some such babies ๐Ÿ™‚ Including the one giant quilt, I gifted her this year, for her birthday!

Well…. I guess somethings don’t need any training…. you just pick them up… in the winds of October ๐Ÿ˜‰

Kids Craft Kuwait !

Hey everyone!

This past week, I decided, that I would get my son some play stuff,ย fromย Kids Craft Kuwait.

Now, before I even begin to tell you, why I’m SO GLAD that I did, I’d like to mention that they are worth the try and I highly recommend trying their stuff out.

I am an absolute fan of home made play dough’s and playthings that are made with organic/edible items. So when I saw that, that’s exactly what Kids Craft Kuwait were offering, I immediately placed my order!

I was very excited to see their play dough, corn and cloud sand. Its something that I have been meaning to do for my son, for a long time, but time constraints always limit the amount of work I can manage sometimes. So when I decided to give myself a break and let Kids Craft Kuwait handle this, I made a good decision!

Military Themed Cloud Dough Box

The lovely Emina, set up this cute little military themed cloud dough box for me and my son loved it! He spent an hour playing with this. I was a happy mom ๐Ÿ˜€

Colored Corn Sensory Box

This colored corn sensory box was a HUGE hit! My son has enjoyed this the most out of these two boxes that I ordered. I customized both the boxes to my liking and I was very satisfied with how they turned out!

Emina also added a complementary box of play dough to our order!

All in all, this shopping experience was amazing ๐Ÿ™‚ If you have kids and you’re living in Kuwait, you have got to try these guys. I’m already planning on trying some of the other stuff they have.

Check out their instagram here – kidscraftkuwait

Shopping at Daiso!

Hey all!

You know, how sometimes, you dream of cute little cottages, surrounded by happy flowers and trees laden with fruits? Well, that is Daiso for me!

I’m guessing everyone out there knows what Daiso is, but for those who don’t, its a Japanese brand. They have stores all over the place and fortunately, they have a couple of stores, here in Kuwait as well! Yeyyy!! ๐Ÿ˜€

So, every time I go to Daiso [which should be more frequent than it actually is] I end up buying a lot of stuff.

Firstly, because it is so darn cute!!! I mean just look at this hot water bottle!! You’d just wanna cuddle with it and forget all about your pain…

Cutest Hot water bottle EVER!!

Second, its not very expensive, so I pick up things I normally wouldn’t in other stores:

Pillow for back support

PLUS, they have all this cool stuffย !! I mean, just check this out:

Plastic bag sealer

The Genius of this stuff!! Who came up with this??? Its battery operated and tiny enough to fit in your little pocket! I am especially excited about this because I was getting really tired of having to put opened cookie bags and chips in jars and such. They take up way too much counter space and if you’re living in Kuwait, you’d know how difficult that is to come by. For those who aren’t aware, the rent in Kuwait is WAY TOO MUCH.. you end up paying more than half of your earningsย in rent, for houses the size of peanuts! True story.. :/

On a side note, did you guys know that Kuwait had been voted the worst place for expatriates to live in?? According to a survey, a couple months ago.. I don’t exactly remember where I read it though.. hmm..

Anyway, lets go back to the happy placeย ! Daiso! So here is some other stuff I bought:

Mini Travel sewing kit
because we ALL have neck aches
A very Japanese Mortar and Pestle
Paper carnation making kit

WHAT???…Well, because we all NEEDย to make paper carnations!!!

Tiny containers

I needed these, to put homemade lip balms in. Which I gave as gifts for Eid a few days ago. You can see how i added them with the rest of the gifts HERE!

Fluffy Fabric!

I plan to make a fluffy cover for my new hot water bottle, hence this fabric scrap, with the cutest sheep face on it!

I also bought some glass jars to put home made body butters in, but I didn’t take any pics of those. Although, after looking at all this, you can totally believe, that they were super cute!

I hope you enjoyed eyeing all this cuteness.. Go get yourself some Daiso therapy you guys.. ๐Ÿ™‚

Totally worth it!
